How can we live sustainably while traveling abroad?

A: IT IS IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER THAT WE CANNOT ENTIRELY CONTROL OUR SHARED ENVIRONMENTS. WE CAN ONLY HOLD OURSELVES RESPONSIBLE FOR OUR OWN ACTIONS. THAT BEING SAID, THERE ARE A FEW SIMPLE RULES TO FOLLOW TO LIVE SUSTAINABLE WHILE TRAVELING. 1. COME PREPARED. BRING YOUR OWN REUSABLE WATER BOTTLE + WATER FILTER, UTENSILS, REUSABLE LINENS FOR TISSUES + NAPKINS, CONTAINERS, TOILETRIES, HYGIENE PRODUCTS, PERIOD PRODUCTS, ETC. 2. PRACTICE MINIMALISM. ONLY BRING WHAT YOU NEED. WEAR LAYERS. HAND WASH YOUR CLOTHES IN THE SINK AND HANG THEM TO DRY WHILE YOU SLEEP. 3. EAT LOCAL FOOD. EAT AT THE MARKETS, THE STREET CARTS, THE LOCAL FARMS, BUY THINGS IN BULK, TRY THINGS YOU HAVEN'T HAD BEFORE, LET THE LOCALS FEED YOU, SAY THANK YOU. 4. FLY IF YOU MUST, BUT WHEN YOU CAN TAKE A TRAIN, BUS OR CAR. 5. BE CONSCIENTIOUS OF HOW YOU INTERACT WITH THE ENVIRONMENT, THE NATIVE PLANT SPECIES, THE ECOSYSTEMS AND THE ANIMALS. DON'T HARM WHAT CAME BEFORE YOU FOR THE SAKE OF TOURISM. 6. TALK TO LOCALS. LEARN HOW THE LOCAL PEOPLE PRACTICE ENVIRONMENTALISM + SUSTAINABILITY. WESTERN ENVIRONMENTALISM + AWARENESS IS FAR BEHIND THE REST OF THE WORLD. WE HAVE A LOT TO LEARN.
